DATA MAPPING PROJECT
Building on my work with financial dashboards, I led a Proof of Concept (POC) project to develop a mapping software for the airport’s investment projects. The goal was to create a visual, cross-functional tool to locate ongoing and upcoming projects, thereby enhancing coordination between the Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Customer departments.
I structured the approach by identifying stakeholder needs (project managers, maintenance teams, asset engineering, internal clients), formalizing use cases, and testing early versions of the tool. This project aligns with the transformation of management and asset tracking tools by integrating a spatial dimension essential for planning, maintenance, and optimization of the airport’s assets.
Key responsibilities :
- Identified and formalized business needs with project managers, maintenance staff, asset engineers, internal clients, and requirements writers.
- Coordinated communication among relevant departments (operations, asset management, maintenance, construction).
- Structured use cases around mapping: visualizing ongoing projects, anticipating impacts, and managing co-activity.
- Participated in defining key software features and prioritizing them based on business value.
- Organized user testing sessions with stakeholders to gather feedback and refine the tool.
- Ensured identification and communication of initially unexpressed functional needs (implicit or emerging).
- Contributed to validating early software iterations with key users.
- Supported strategic reflection on future tool applications in asset management and predictive maintenance.
Core skills involved :
- Requirements Gathering and Analysis :Â ability to structure and reframe expectations from multiple stakeholders with sometimes divergent objectives.
- Cross-Department Coordination :Â facilitated multi-disciplinary meetings, tracked communications, and aligned expectations.
- Project Management (POC) :Â functional scoping, incremental validation, iteration tracking, and user feedback integration.
- User Experience (UX) Approach :Â functionality testing, identifying pain points, and seeking practical, intuitive solutions.
- System and Asset Vision :Â understanding the impact of investment projects on asset management and anticipating sensitive maintenance areas.
- Functional Communication :Â clear presentation of use cases, synthesis writing, and technical simplification for non-expert audiences.
- Cross-Functional Approach :Â ability to work at the intersection of technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic management domains.
